Un elenco delle parole e delle espressioni che ho imparato in america prima che me le dimentichi (se me ne vengono altre le aggiungerò…):
- Don’t hold it against him -> Non farglielo pesare
- Check it out -> Dacci un’occhiata
- Stick around -> Rimanete qui, non andate via
- Funky -> Strano
- Freaky -> Strano
- Freaking -> Equivalente di fucking
- Bless you -> Salute
- To have a loose screw -> Avere una rotella fuori posto (letteralmente una vite lenta)
- He doesn’t play with the full deck -> Non gioca con tutto il mazzo, ovvero è un pò matto
- To be like a raped ape -> Questo è il mio super slang favorito, essere come un gorilla violentato…
- I’ll kick your ass -> ti faccio un … sedere così, anche nella variante I’ll kick your fucking ass
- Get stuck -> bloccarsi, es. the dvd gets stuck
- Screw it up -> sbagliare, es. I screwed it up (ho sbagliato)
- Screw -> in senso volgare anche fottere
- Drop off -> lasciare nel senso di portare qualcuno in qualche posto e lasciarlo lì, anche dare uno strappo, es. I’ll drop you off at the airport
- Grab: afferrare e per estensione in slang anche prendere: Let’s go to grab a coffee
